Question: I have a question before ordering. Would I be able
to order a full length apron in a toddler size?
Answer: Yes, you can order other sizes of garments not listed by
emailing us; however, custom sizes will take longer, maybe up to 3 weeks.
Our History
We got into making old-fashioned clothing by accident. We moved to
Austin, Texas a few years ago and continued with home schooling our six children
as we had done in Indiana. Since we had a habit of looking for unusual
ways to learn things, when we heard that Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms allowed
home school families to volunteer, we jumped at the chance.
For about two years, we went there one day a week and led visitors through
the old houses telling them what we knew and showing them how we cooked in the
old kitchens. It was great fun but then we moved out of the city, and it
was too cumbersome to go there often especially after we started our own farm
with dairy goats.
However, during the time we volunteered, we had made our own costumes.
The Farms was set in the 1880's time period so the clothing was pioneer type of
Little House on the Prairie fame. We also began to sew costumes for other
people at the Pioneer Farm, and eventually, online, which continued after we
quit volunteering.
While still being a small company, we do now have several people helping us
sew the actual garments, and our children still help in the business too, in
various ways.
